Tantia University — Soil & Water Testing Laboratory
A complete digital platform developed for the Faculty of Agriculture, Tantia University, combining an institutional website, soil and water testing workflows, configurable agricultural databases, smart calculators and farmer-focused digital tools.
Project Overview
The Faculty of Agriculture at Tantia University, Sri Ganganagar required a digital platform to take its Soil & Water Testing Laboratory online and make its scientific services and agricultural resources more accessible to farmers, students, researchers and agricultural professionals.
TechCartel designed and developed a complete website and web application ecosystem rather than a conventional informational website.
The platform brings together laboratory services, agricultural information, sample-related workflows, expert information, news and events, digital resources and interactive agricultural calculators in one centralized system.
The platform supports soil testing, water testing, plant testing and other testing services, with the laboratory offering more than 30 types of tests.
THE CHALLENGE
Making Complex Agricultural Data Practical
Soil and water testing involves multiple parameters, crops, locations and scientific recommendations. A static website could communicate laboratory information, but it could not provide the flexibility required for managing and applying this information digitally.
The platform therefore needed to support:
- Different crops and crop-specific requirements
- State and city/location-based data
- Multiple soil and water parameters
- Scientific values used for recommendations
- Fertilizer recommendations
- Soil and water analysis tools
- Agricultural calculators
- Sample registration and tracking
- Dynamic website content
- Laboratory services and test information
The key challenge was to turn this complex information into a structured, manageable and farmer-friendly digital system.
OUR SOLUTION
From Laboratory Data to Actionable Digital Tools
TechCartel developed a centralized web application where administrators can maintain the underlying agricultural data and use it to power different tools across the platform.
The administration system allows authorized users to manage crops, states, cities and parameter values required for soil and water analysis and recommendation workflows.
This creates a flexible foundation where agricultural data can be updated from the backend instead of requiring changes to the application every time a new crop, location or parameter is introduced.
WHAT WE BUILT
01 — Institutional Website
A modern website for the Soil & Water Testing Laboratory presenting its services, laboratory information, experts, facilities, news, events, gallery, testimonials and agricultural resources.
The website communicates the laboratory's role in supporting farmers, students, researchers and agricultural professionals.
02 — Soil Testing Platform
A dedicated digital interface for soil testing, allowing users to work with important soil parameters and obtain relevant information through the platform.
The laboratory's soil-testing service covers areas such as nutrient levels, pH and fertility analysis.
03 — Water Testing Platform
A dedicated workflow for water testing, designed around irrigation suitability and water-quality parameters.
The platform communicates the laboratory's water-testing capabilities for evaluating irrigation water, including pH and mineral content.
04 — Dynamic Agricultural Database
One of the key components of the project is the configurable database behind the application.
Administrators can manage:
Crops
Add and manage different crops.
States
Maintain location-wise agricultural data.
Cities
Configure city/location-specific information.
Parameters
Maintain values and parameters required by the recommendation and analysis system.
This makes the application data-driven and configurable, rather than hard-coded.
SMART AGRICULTURAL TOOLS
05 — Fertilizer Recommendation Engine
A dedicated fertilizer recommendation interface was developed to use soil and crop-related information to generate relevant fertilizer recommendations.
The platform includes crop selection and soil parameters such as:
- Organic Carbon
- Nitrogen
- Phosphorus
- Potassium
- Other relevant soil parameters
This turns laboratory information into a more practical decision-support workflow.
06 — Fertilizer Calculator
An interactive calculator designed to help users work with fertilizer requirements based on agricultural inputs.
The platform lists Fertilizer Recommendation and Fertilizer Calculator among its dedicated agricultural tools.
07 — Lime Requirement Calculator
A dedicated tool for calculating lime requirements based on relevant soil conditions.
This gives users an interactive alternative to simply reading technical information on the website.
08 — Gypsum Requirement Calculator
A gypsum requirement calculator was developed for agricultural use, including inputs such as soil pH and gypsum-related values.
The platform also provides explanatory guidance around gypsum use for sodic soil, including application considerations.
SAMPLE & LABORATORY WORKFLOW
09 — Sample Registration
The platform includes a digital workflow for registering laboratory samples, reducing dependence on purely offline processes.
10 — Sample Tracking
Users can access the Track My Sample functionality to follow their submitted sample through the laboratory workflow. The website navigation explicitly includes both Register Sample and Track My Sample.
11 — Digital Reports
The platform is designed around the laboratory's testing and reporting ecosystem, connecting collected data and laboratory processes with digital access for users.
ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM
12 — Centralized Admin Management
The backend gives administrators control over the data powering the platform.
Instead of building every recommendation directly into the frontend, the system allows administrators to maintain the underlying information.
Admin can manage:
Crop Database
→ Crops and related requirements
Location Database
→ States and cities
Testing Parameters
→ Soil and water parameters
Recommendation Values
→ Values used by agricultural recommendation workflows
Website Content
→ Services, news, events, experts, gallery and other content
This architecture allows the platform to grow with the laboratory's requirements.
LABORATORY & INSTITUTIONAL CONTENT
The website also provides structured sections for the people and expertise behind the laboratory.
It features:
- Faculty of Agriculture
- Laboratory experts
- Dean
- Deputy Registrar & Coordinator
- Laboratory In-charge
- Testing Officer
- Laboratory services
- News & events
- Agricultural resources
- Gallery
- Testimonials
- Videos
- Digital library
The source material identifies Dr. U. S. Shekhawat as Dean, Mr. Rakesh Verma as Deputy Registrar & Coordinator Agril. Research, Dr. Satdev as In-charge of the Soil and Water Testing Laboratory, and Dr. Naresh Kumar Yadav as Testing Officer.
DIGITAL AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES
13 — Digital Library
The platform also includes a digital library section, extending the website beyond laboratory services into agricultural knowledge and resources. The main navigation includes Digital Library alongside testing and calculator tools.
TECHNOLOGY
14 — Modern Web Architecture
The platform was built using a modern web application architecture:
Frontend
React
Backend
Laravel API
Database
MySQL
Application Type
Single Page Web Application
This architecture separates the user interface, business logic and data layer, providing a foundation for future expansion.
PROJECT IMPACT
